Prevention Services
Prevention services offer an array of evidence-based prevention programs throughout Franklin County and six participating school districts. All of our programs work to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors associated with youth substance use and other undesirable behaviors.
Prevention Education
Education (from K-12) includes several nationally-recognized model programs. The school-based Student Assistance Program (SAP) provides screening and assessment, early intervention, referral, individual and group support services for youth and families. Prevention staff also advise various youth action programs; S.A.D.D. Chapters (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and Tobacco Prevention/Cessation activities. These programs provide opportunities for student leadership, as they educate and influence their peers, school and communities about healthy lifestyle choices. Our Community Prevention Outreach works with parents and communities on policies, practices and initiatives that foster healthy communities and positive youth development.
