Parenting any child can be a challenge, but when a child has emotional and/or behavioral problems, those challenges can become too much for a family to cope with in the home. From daily care that does not lessen with age, to coordinating with multiple providers and services for care, to balancing the child’s needs with those of self and others in the home, parents of special needs children often find themselves feeling exhausted and unable to do what they want to do to support their family.
