Parenting any child can be a challenge, but when a child has emotional and/or behavioral problems, those challenges can become too much for a family to cope with in the home. From daily care that does not lessen with age, to coordinating with multiple providers and services for care, to balancing the child’s needs with those of self and others in the home, parents of special needs children often find themselves feeling exhausted and unable to do what they want to do to support their family. North Star operates and maintains a family-centered community residence for children and adolescents ages 12 to 17 with emotional and/or behavioral problems. At the Adirondack Youth Lodge, your child will learn and grow in the same peaceful, warm and loving atmosphere you would provide, but with the undivided attention of North Star’s professional staff. Working with you, North Star will help you and your child have a more stress-free relationship and provide endless opportunity for you and your family to participate in activities provided by the Adirondack Youth Lodge Residential Program.
